Listening to my inner self was by far the best decision I made.
When I was fresh out of the university after completing my Bachelors in Tourism Business Management, I remember dreaming about living the 9 to 5 life, wearing fancy office attire and climbing the corporate ladder. Little did I know that it would soon bring no satisfaction or fulfillment to me.
I would find myself eventually resenting Monday mornings and suffocating on my way to the office. I had a good job in finance, great colleagues and plenty of perks that came along with being an employee. None of that mattered to me and even though I tried to convince myself otherwise, the resentment towards living the office life only grew stronger.
I realised that sitting behind my computer screen was the opposite of what brought me joy. At that time I did not know how I would make it work, I did not have a clear plan for my life yet I was certain I had to do something about it.
Looking back at my journey now, I feel proud of my twenty-something me who was brave enough to go after what made her happy rather than what was expected of her.
Listening to my inner self was by far the best decision I made. It has been and continues to be a crazy but, most importantly, fulfilling ride.
Oh, and Mondays are definitely my favourite! 🤍 #onestepatatime
